Results from the Feb. 2 Precinct Caucuses

On Tuesday evening, Feb. 2, approximately 200 DFL voters from around SD47 gathered at precinct caucuses at Coon Rapids High School and Champlin's Jackson Middle School. Here are the results:

  • Precinct Officers: New Precinct Chairs and Associate Chairs were elected in all 23 precincts within SD47.
  • SD47 Convention Delegates: Over 160 delegates were elected to represent the various precincts at the Feb. 27 Senate District 47 DFL Convention at Coon Rapids High School.
  • Platform Resolutions: Precinct caucuses voted to send forward 133 resolutions for the DFL Party Platform and 2010 Action Agenda. Those resolutions approved at the Feb. 27 SD47 Convention will be forwarded on for final consideration at the State DFL Convention in Duluth, April 23-25.

How to Submit a Resolution at Your Precinct Caucus

At your precinct caucus on February 2, you may submit resolutions for consideration as part of the DFL party platform. Your caucus will vote on resolutions after completing its other business. Any resolutions that are approved will advance to the SD47 Convention on February 27 and, if approved there as well, to the state DFL Convention in late April for final consideration.

Each resolution must be submitted on a standard DFL Resolution Form. We'll have copies of the form available on caucus night, but if you want to get a head start, you can download the form here:

You'll need to submit a separate form for each resolution. If you've been given a page with multiple resolutions from a union, special-interest caucus, or other group, please separate them. (Scissors and tape work great!)

You should try to park in the west parking lot at Jackson Middle School and enter the west doors. (The ones marked "Exit 32" and "Exit 34" are best.) If you know your precinct, you may proceed directly to your room. Maps will be posted.

DFL caucuses convene Tuesday evening, February 2 at 7:00 p.m.

You may cast your preference ballot for Governor as early as 6:30 p.m.

Coon Rapids residents of Senate District 47:

You caucus at Coon Rapids High School, 2340 Northdale Blvd NW, Coon Rapids.

(Note that some sources are directing Coon Rapids residents to Jackson Middle School in Champlin. This is incorrect. Only Champlin and Brooklyn Park residents of SD47 caucus at Jackson Middle School.)
